Campaign for National Parks Conference

Climate crisis, national landscapes and building coalitions
The annual Campaign for National Parks conference took place yesterday, with Julian Glover on hand to present the thinking behind his national landscapes review and to answer questions. A principal theme of the meeting was the need to raise awareness of the significance of protected landscapes in addressing the climate crisis, especially amongst younger people. A further theme was to work towards closer cooperation with AONBs, often seen as the ‘little brother’ of national parks but with a strong conservation role in their own right, and as part of a broader coalition which supports and uses protected landscapes. It was good to meet the clear-sighted new CEO of CNP, Corinne Pluchino.
